seriously stinky

These diapers have been used for roughly 3 years. They are fuzzi bunz pocket diapers. And they stink!!

I've tried washing/soaking them in vinegar even bleach. The bleach will get the stink out initially until she pees in them and back comes what seems like 3 years of stink.

my daughter is 28 mo. so i'm not looking to reinvest in new diapers especially since she is most likely our last.

I've been eyeing up sposies in the store and i prolly would convert if they weren't so dang expensive.

Could you invest in some prefolds to stuff them with? I know we have serious stink issues with out inserts and prefolds wouldn't be too expensive and could be used after your DD is potty trained.

is it the actual pocket that stinks or just the inserts? or both?

both are really stinky.. but the prefolds might help altho that makes its so much bulkier.

what's your normal wash routine, katarn? What detergent do you use? Hard water? Maybe we can help you troubleshoot. Don't give up yet!

Boiling the inserts is an option. Some people have even boiled the diaper itself without trouble, but there is a little risk to that if you damage the snaps or PUL.

Mine do the best if I wash with a lot of water and do hot rinses at the end.

i was going to suggest boiling the inserts as well. maybe scrub the insides of the fb with some dawn?

hm, boiling really.. interesting. for how long?

And that's right i have heard the dawn thing before. I did try it a while ago but i could try it again. I didn't scrub i just blopped it in there.

As far a detergent I'm not very faithful to one kind. Sometimes its arm'n'hammer right now i've got cheer brightclean, no dyes or perfumes.
