Baby books, scrapbooking, or more...

I'm curious what you're doing for a baby book, scrapbooking, etc. whether at home or online for your LO's and pregnancy/birth experience. Do you have experience using shutterfly or other online printers?

I've recently been considering printing my blogs and making a book that way. Seems cheating a bit, but it'd be a start.

What are your creative ideas?

i have a blog and i also plan on printing them. her birth story is there and i will put that into her baby book. we have two baby books that i have tried to keep up to date with things as they happen. i wish i had time to be more creative and not just fill in the blank but having blanks to fill out is sooo much easier.

we use flickr for our online photo album but dh can print photos at work so having them printed isn't a priority for us. i have heard good things about shutterfly though.

I had great aspirations for my first dd's baby book. And the life happened. Lol. I did type out her birth story and printed the pics from it and put those in a nice album. She's almost 5 now and LOVES her "birthday book." I finally let go of expectations so I don't feel so guilty and I just take a lot of pics and try to keep them uploaded. I also blog and have a family shutterfly page so I have things *sort of* put together. I think you're doing well if you have time to print out your blog pages! ;-)

I have a journal that I kept thru pregnancy and since the birth. I wrote her birth story in it. I plan to give it to her someday, probably when she is pregnant with her own baby. I've also started a few pages for a scrapbook/homemade baby book. I thought I'd work on it more while on maternity leave, but the few minutes each day that I"m not holding her, I usually have something more pressing to do (like use the bathroom )

I REALLY wanted a book and after looking at my choices and reading reviews I bought one from Amazon, but when I got it, it was in calendar form. SO NOT what I wanted. So I am in the market for a new book. Preferably one with the fill ins. Any suggestions?

I, too, wish I could be more creative, but time escapes me.

i did shutterfly for our wedding and it turned out great. we did multiple copies for the parents. i plan on doing the same for Ada. maybe a "first year book."

But for the "little" stuff i bought a journal and a cute photo-type box that matches. i'm happy to have spent $12 at target rather than $50 for a fancy-shmancy "baby book." so anyway, the journal can have stuff like her birth story but also day to day stuff like "today you giggled as you fell asleep." and both of us can write, draw, add pics...as much as we want. and then the book and other memorabilia can be housed in the box. so far i've got her hospital bands and the onesie she wore home for the first time housed in there. it's silly but seeing that onesie makes me tear-up already and it's only been 6 weeks!

Thanks for your ideas! Clearly we're all a little busy :-)
I Do definitely want to do something fun, as a reminder for me And lil man. Nothing more annoying than the parent who brings out the baby book when your child's a teenager :-)

More importantly, I just want to remember as much as I can. Time is already sweeping by too fast, I barely have time to blog - and I NEVER have the camera handy when he's doing something cute. Today was our first "oh" and "coo" back and forth for a good 10 minutes. I need a video-camera on my forehead.

I do a family album every year on Shutterfly and get it printed in Dec. I get copies for the grandparents for Christmas. I love it. I do 8-10 pages per month (of that month) throughout the year and in Dec, I end up with 100 pages. The beginning of the album is always Christmas from the year before, which is cool since it is a Christmas gift.

For my first, I had high hopes to do the scrapbooking, baby book, etc. thing. Fortunately, he was a grumpy baby who left me no time to do any of that. I say fortunately because I feel like what I did for him would have to be done for my other children and I KNOW I don't have time now for all of that.

What I do is try to keep up with my blog...someday I'll probably print it out for each of them. I also try to stay on top of taking photos and creating a slide show for each 2 year span for each child (does that even make sense?). I just put the digital pictures in a folder for that child as I upload them and then before the even # birthdays go through and pick the best/most significant ones for the slideshow. Then I put it to music and burn it.

I also get a memory box for each baby and keep some of their 'treasures' from their first year in there. The hat from the hospital, foot and hand prints, a birth announcement, cards given to them, a list of milestones (first foods, words), etc. Finally, I keep hard copy stuff (drawings, artwork, etc) in a filing cabinet...a folder for each year for each kid.

Whatever you do will be appreciated by your little one when he/she grows up. Don't put too much pressure on yourself.
