APA Writing Question

Hi everyone! I have a writing question...

Quick background, I attend all my classes online so I can be home with DS & DD (who are currently down w/flu). I am 30 credits into my AA in Hospitality Management...
I am having a bit of a dilemma about writing style. In my nutrition class (SCI241), I am to create a healthy eating plan, discuss my current eating habits, nutritional recommendations by the USDA and how I plan to implement this new plan into my lifestyle. But - APA format clearly does not support writing in the first person. Even still, I found it difficult to discuss my own dietary habits, eating plans, and all in the third person without sounding repetitive and awkward. I did post a message for the facilitator, but wondered what you all would suggest. The writing lab is closed, but usually the moderators refer us back to the instructors anyway. Being only a 200 level class and given the nature of the assignment, I'm expecting this to be ok with her. WDYT??

I was wondering about this...I mean, most biology publications now prefer active voice-and are perfectly fine with 1st person. The tides are changing from passive voice.

Yes, especially when I am discussing my own dietary habits and creating a 'Healthy Eating Plan', writing in the third person can be really awkward. I hope I did ok... But Nutrition isn't a very inspiring topic for me to write about. This course will really make me work for my word count!
