Sid the science kid all about flu vax today

Thread Starter
My LO is home sick today (first fever ever and he is 3) and I am letting him lay around watching PBS. Sid the Science kid is ALL about vax and preventing the flu today- wow! the propaganda is amazing!

I read something on InfoWars.com about how the EIF (Entertainment Industry Foundation) made a deal with the government to heavily push hot topics from Obama's legislature. I can't seem to find a link right now and I'm running out of time, but it's out there. There was also a fake web page on Flash Forward that says "Time for your Flu Shot." On Fringe, there was a poster about covering your cough (so again, the flu) in the room when Olivia interviewed a guy in a hospital room. No other stuff on the walls except it.

It's all a big agenda push. Gag.

Gotta start the programming young.

Wow. That just doesn't sit right with me. (And this coming from an Obama fan.)

we saw that too on Sid the Science Kid. It's one of DD's favorite shows, but we changed the channel today.

It's really quite sad.

Yep, I read something about that being on too. It makes me sick......

I was completely disappointed in Sid today. I just cannot believe that they would put that topic in a cartoon aimed at children.
thankfully we missed it today. I would have been really annoyed if my 4yo had seen that.

I saw it too. At first I had a similar reaction. Then I wrote it off as making kids who do get vacs feel better about their dr. experience. Until the last scene where one kid dresses up as the flu and the other little girl comes out and is an antibody and fights off the virus. Then I again felt like it was pushing an agenda. I do like PBS for children's tv (in the am when I'm making breakfast and still not 100%) but this reminded me that even PBS is still "mainstream" and I've got to keep a close eye on it.

Is this what you read? If so, I read that too (obviously LOL)

It comes as no surprise that the offensive is especially directed at programs that enjoy the highest ratings in the country. Listed by initiator, the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), as ‘Campaign Elements’ for the coming mass media offensive are: “to ‘organically’ create and produce as many stories as possible about service and volunteerism and connect them in the plots of network dramas, comedies and reality shows.”
Quote:
“Ideally”, states the EIF press release, “storylines will touch on one or more of the key issues that have outlined as the country’s priorities for services:

• Education and children

• Health and well being

• Environmental conservation and reduced energy consumption

• Economic development and financial security

• Support for military families

I'm not even anti-vax (although we don't get the flu shot). Even if we did get the flu shot, I would be annoyed by this though. I mean, I get making kids less scared of the experience. But this seemed to go way past that.

If my DD was older I probably would've changed the channel. But she's only 16 months and doesn't actually pay attention to the TV anyway. we just have it on for background noise and she dances when a upbeat song comes on.

Wow, I'm glad we missed that one. It feels so deceptive them going around our backs to get to the children.

DD watches Sid.....As soon as they announced the topic this morning.....'No Sid today.....let's go to the park!' came simultaneously from DH and I.

This just proves my suspicions about the government paying the mass media to brainwash the general public.
I sure as hell don't remember Sesame Street having messages like this...

for anyone else wanting to avoid the re-airing of this episode, here are the dates & times according to my PBS station. This episode is supposed to have a "a prominent spot in the network's regular rotation thereafter" so we'll have to be checking for quite some time I think. They only have dates up with my station through the end of November, so I'll have to check again and post when more are added.

I am completely disgusted about this situation. Ds LOVES SID!! This show does such a great job helping kids understand the scientific method and ds eats it up. BUT THIS...it too much. Thank you to the pp that listed the rerun show times
