Here we go! Getting induced tonight!

OK, so my midwife took one look at my BP today, and the chart I've been keeping over the past week, and we agreed that it's time to induce. A resting, lying on left side BP of ~150/105 is nothing to sneeze at. I need to have some wiggle room in there for the inevitable increase in BP during labor -- I'm going to be hard at work!
I'm still only a fingertip dilated, not effaced, but soft. His head is still high.
So she stripped my membranes, and I'm having some bloody show. (Never thought I'd be HAPPY to have blood in my underpants!) I'm going in at 6PM, and will get some cervadil and try to get some sleep.
I really hope I can get contractions going on their own by using the breast pump, walking etc. otherwise, we'll start pitocin tomorrow once the cervadil has had time to do its thing.
Induction is not my preference, but it's time, and I'm going to be positive about it and make the best. I'm excited that I will get to meet this little man tomorrow!!!

I'm glad you are in a positive place with this! You've given me renewed hope for my induction tomorrow! Here's hoping we'll both see our babies very soon.

good luck and way to be positive! Just remember an induction for a first time mom can take more than one day--so try not to be too disappointed if you don't meet your baby right away!

DDC-crashing to wish you the best of luck! I read your PIH thread last night and it reminded me of my first pregnancy.

That is great that your induction is starting off with cervidil, and that your cervix is already soft! My induction took 2 doses of cervidil to get things going. I had the first cervidil on Sunday night (did nothing), the second on Monday night which got contractions finally going on Tues. And dd was born wed evening after having my waters broken.

My sister just had her new baby boy 2 months ago via cervidil-induction. Her cervidil fell out after a few hours because she had already started dilating so fast!

Looking forward to reading your update that you're holding your baby boy!
