Who is Jodi Mindell, PhD?

I just saw in the paper this morning that Jodi Mindell, author of some book about babies sleeping through the night, is giving a free seminar/talk at a local auditorium tonight. I've never heard of her, and I'm automatically skeptical because of the "STTN" bit, but I thought I should at least ask some mom's who I trust who this person is and if it's worth going to.

She believes in babies/kids crying it out to the point where they vomit and she says not to go clean it up or they will keep doing that so you come in. She infuriated me so much that I confronted her on a mainstream message board about it. She said she didn't say it but she did...it is in her book.

How is that not abuse and neglect? Letting them cry till it induces vomitting, then leaving them in it??? WHY DO PPL HAVE CHILDREN IF THIS IS THEIR PARENTING STYLE????? WTF
