Wrap or SSC?

I have an itty bitty guy (5 weeks) and a 15 month old. The 15 month old is over 30 lbs, so if he's worn it has to be with good support. Realistically as we go forward, he'll be walking more, and the younger one will be worn, but I'd like to have the option....

I have a wrap-style mei tai that is great, but even that isn't so good for extended wearing with my huge 1 year old. I also have a nice mama-made gauze wrap- again, great for shorter wearing or less than 30 lb baby. I love my ring sling, but the older baby can't be in it for too long or over uneven terrain as my back isn't as strong as I'd like following the recent pregnancy. The baby does not like the sling- at all- loves the moby and gauze wrap, and tolerates (VERY briefly) the mei tai.

Also, I want a woven (but still soft?)wrap or SSC that will adjust for larger/fluffier/curvier people to use (read, VERY long wrap, or an XL waist etc on an SSC.)

Sounds like you should just get a woven wrap! I find a lot of people can't handle the idea of wrapping, but seems like you'd do just fine! Wraps are the most diverse option and some say the most comfortable. So it would probably be the safest bet to use with both your kids.

Because your baby likes the Moby, I'd get a woven wrap. You'd be able to use it for either one of your little ones and still be very supported. A good woven wrap will be more comfortable and provide more support than both the Moby or the gauze wrap. It'll add a bit of padding on your shoulder when doing front and back carries, which is really nice when carrying heavier kiddos. I'd recommend either a Neobulle wrap or a BBslen for affordable, wide, soft (after one wash) wraps that will take you from the newborn stage of your littlest to toddlerhood.

I've never used a woven wrap so can't respond there.

I have an ergo & we LOVE it. Ds is 27.5lbs at 1 & growing & I can carry him in the ergo for hours comfortably. I am quite fluffy myself. I had to buy the extension for the hip belt but it works great & is comfortable - doesn't dig in. I also like how easy it is to get him on & off in the ergo (we only use the back carry).
