bottles - Page 2

We are going to start trying bottles this weekend. Worst case, if she rejects the bottle, dh will be doing alot of running back and forth for me to nurse her or she's going to power nurse/reverse cycle and I won't get any sleep.

I go back to work in 10 days.

I'm so happy to say that Paige has no problem with bottles. My last would NOT take a bottle at all-ever! Paige doesn't seem to mind where the food comes from, as long as she can get to it! Now if I can only get more consistent with a pumping schedule!

we gave ethan his first bottle yesterday afternoon. he could have cared less. i'm not sure if that makes me feel sad or liberated... still, i have lots of training for work coming up in the next 6 weeks, so it's nice to know dh can give a bottle if the times don't work out with whatever "schedule" ethan happens to be on that day.

We tried again last night because I have some nipple trauma on my right side and I want to pump for a few days on that side to give it a break (pumping doesn't hurt as bad, I'm bleeding when I nurse, but not when I pump) Anyway, Gavin took it! He drank about an ounce and a half, but I had just nursed him 30 minutes before on my left side, so I know he wasn't really hungry. It was his evening cluster feeding.

I did nurse him on my right side less than an hour later, and it didn't hurt as bad. Maybe because the pump had relieved some of the pressure and he could latch easier, or maybe because he wasn't as hungry so he wasn't sucking as hard, I don't know. But I'm going to mostly pump that side for at least another day to give myself a chance to heal some more. OUCH.

we introduced the bottle at 2 weeks old because I knew I would be going back to work. He took it right away, no problems. We use the Avent bottles. He also adores his pacifier. We've been doing 1-2 botles per week since then so he's accustomed to it, and he takes them happily.

It honestly doesn't bother me. I'm just relieved he takes the bottle so easily (and glad he has no apparent nipple confusion whatsoever!) DH is the SAHP in our family and if DS had been fickle about taking the bottle it would have made life SO much more difficult for us!
