BP Scare - Update: Getting induced tonight for PIH.

DH is a pharmacist and was able to bring home a wrist BP monitor today. My very first ready having been sitting still on the couch was 145/80. Subsequent readings after that ranged from 133/81 to 146/82. DH called his sister who is a L&D RN and she proceeded to ask me a series of symptom questions and I was able to answer yes to just about every one. She told me to take it easy for a while and take my readings again. She works swing shift and she'll be in at 10:30pm so she told me to call her with my readings then. This all happened around 8pm.

Well about 20 minutes later she calls back and tells me I need to call my OB now so we don't end up having to page him at home late tonight. A little back story is that my OB is a long time family friend of DH's family so thankfully we were/are able to call him at home anytime we need. So I call him and answer his questions. I tell him DH took a reading that was 123/80 right after I took a high one and his reaction was to put me on couch/bed rest for the night and he told me to come in on his lunch break tomorrow and he's going to check me out.

I'm a little freaked out at the possibility that I may end up having to get induced. My mother is supposed to fly in Wed and I was hoping this LO wouldn't make an appearance before... Perhaps if he wants to induce I can get him to stretch it out to Thursday? I dunno... Obviously I'm a newb and have never experienced this. Mine and my LOs health is most important so we'll see what the doc thinks tomorrow.

I'm hoping a night relaxing on the couch will help lower the readings.

Though easier said than done, don't stress- it'll make it worse. Take it one day at a time and cross the induction bridge when you get to it. Take it easy and rest!

I hope it was just a freak thing.

Even though my numbers fluctuated a bit last night, I had a reading before even getting out of bed this morning and it was 115/62. I'm really hopeful it was just a fluke. They are going to check my urine for protein today so hopefully I'll be in the clear and get to continue on as usual.

I just got back from my appt and I am being admitted for induction tonight due to PIH. I half expected it but I'm still a little freaked and am quite shaky. I'll keep you all updated as much as I am able.

I'm wishing you a fast and easy induction TIFF4NY. You'll be holding your baby girl really soon!
