Newborn farts

Ok maybe this sounds a little weird but my son is a fart machine! He is always passing gas. Sometimes he is pooping but other times when I check his diaper there is nothing there. He takes a while to burp after nursing but I don't think he has any gas pain in his tummy, since he doesn't ever fuss unless he is hungry. Oh to add he is EBF on demand.

Is this normal? Could it be something I am eating?

This being a new mom thing is stressful. haha

My older DD was always farting! Its totally normal. At least it doesn't smell (yet)!

DD is 7 months now and I can safely say that farting is perfectly normal.

I had the same worry in those early days.

At least at that age the odor was pretty minimal, though if it was a few days between poops she sometimes actually had a chance at winning the stinky-butt contest for the day. DH normally wins that one.

My baby had some really smelly toots for the few days when she was transitioning from meconium to the mustard/seedy poops. The midwife said it was just her little system trying to work all that through. Now she toots and it isn't smelly, but it is thunderous. I always have to look to see if there is anything in there! I think it is quite normal. I would be more worried if baby wasn't passing gas. That is when it gets stuck in there and becomes painful.

I always get a kick out of that- I think it's one of the funniest things ever (and for some strange reason I found it funnier with dd than with ds!)

Glad to hear it's not just my baby. I think it's hilarious when relatives come over to hold him and he just toots. Silly baby.

My LO's farts are INCREDIBLY loud! You can hear them across the room lol

My DS is too. I think it's from swallowing so much air while nursing. He doesn't have a great latch yet, it's rather shallow so I suspect this is the issue. My other kids never needed burping and were impossible to burp, he's burping and farting all the time.

Funny story. He was sleeping on the bed the other night and farted so loud that he set off his moro reflex, threw his little arms and lets out and bawled his eyes out! OMG he was scared by his own fart! LOL! Funniest thing ever!
