How did you approach an OB for backup care?

I apologize in advance if I've missed this discussion elsewhere, but I'm wondering how you approached an OB for backup care. We're planning a HB, but I would like to have current info on file and be a patient of an OB's just in case transfer is necessary. We happen to have an OB in the area who I've heard is relatively supportive of HB, but I don't really know how to approach the situation. Thanks!

I didn't tell mine. went to my 5min appointments and got my belly checked and said well Ill see you next time! After the baby was born my dh called the office and canceled my next appoinment. It was as simple as that. I am still thinking about calling and talking with him about the birth and smoothing things over just incase I want to use him again
