EC and daycare

Thread Starter
My DD is almost 12 mos. She has been EC'd from birth. I have to go back to work and her day care insists on diapers until 18 mos. Any one else been there? What advice do you have? What should I expect?

Thanks

What does she wear at home, if anything? Can you talk to them about sending her with one-wet trainers and ask that they change them as soon as they notice she's wet?

Yeah, I'd also suggest trainers as a compromise, see what they say... You can say they're just like pullups except they have to be changed if there's a miss.

My DD's daycare has a very narrow view on toilet training and I can just imagine the looks I'd get if I asked them to EC her as a 12mo (she was older when she started there). However, they do offer to sit toddlers on the toilet at each nappy change for familiarisation purposes. Perhaps something like this could work for your LO?
Also, I'm not sure what is available where you live or whether you use cloth or disposables, but here in Australia Huggies sells both pull ups and 'nappy pants' (diaper pants). The shape and fit are exactly the same, but the pull ups are less absorbent (won't hold one of those flooding toddler wees). If you opted for something like the nappy pants, the carers would be reassured that there wouldn't be leaks like there could be with trainers/pull ups, but offering the toilet is much easier than with normal nappies/diapers.
