moby v. baby ktan

I have and really like my moby. A friend has a baby shower coming up and I was thinking of ordering one for her. Then I saw the baby ktan, which looks like it might be a more user-friendly version of the moby. (At least, easier to put on!). They're around the same price, so I thought I'd ask this community whether a new mom might prefer the moby or the baby ktan. Anyone have both? I know the benefits of the moby, but wondering if anyone can tell me what they like about the ktan? (Or, if you like one or the other better, why?)

Thanks!!!

I haven't tried a Ktan, but something to keep in mind is that size matters with a Ktan. So it's possible that it might not fit correctly. So you would just have to make sure she can return it if she needs to.

I love the moby wrap for new babies. It's so flexible and comfy for mama and baby. i had a c/section and it was even okay after that. i haven't used the k'tan but i think the moby is the way to go for young babies (I needed more structure as my little guy got heavier). Congrats to your friend.

bumping...
I'm considering getting a baby k'tan, at least for the early months, then switching to a more structured carrier like the beco or ergo.
The reason I'm leaning K'tan over the moby is that I don't have to do all the tying. I'm going to be chasing a crazy toddler around and I need something I can throw on and not have a long thing of fabric to deal with. I also don't trust myself with knots, no matter how easy others claim it to be.
If I were a first time mom, I would be a bit intimidated by the moby. Sorry!

The tying is part of the reason that I am wondering if the k'tan would be good, as well. It looks a lot like the moby but no tying. I wish our local sling library had this to try, but they do not.

As far as the Moby being intimidating, I understand what you mean! I'm not intimidated by it, exactly, but when I'm only going to be wearing the sling for a short time I tend to reach for my hotsling, which is not nearly as comfortable but is loads easier to deal with. I also find that when my son is cranking out and I want to get him in the sling to soothe him, I've got to set him down somewhere while I "moby up." After three months, I'm pretty fast with it, but my son can go from calm to full tilt hysteria in a flash so every second counts!

Maybe what I should do is buy MYSELF a k'tan?

I have a k'tan and I love it. We still use it. =D

Their sizing is wonky though. I'm 5'2'' and 135lbs, and I have a size small and it fits perfect. Keep that in mind!
