Herbs Question

I thought I would post this here since I think I'll get more of a response.

We live in a state where midwifery is legal, but they are not allowed to prescribe/carry any drugs (including oxygen/pitocin, etc...). I know on my list of supplies to get I have motherwort tinture, arnica montana, and liquid chlorophyll.

Is there anything else I should get, and also what do the two above mentioned things do/what are they used for?

I cannot get a prescription from any HCP for Vit. K (might get oral drops just in case there is bruising), and I definitely wouldn't be able to get anything for myself for bleeding postpartum. All the GP's around here want you to deliver in a hospital.... I'm a little concerned about PPH...I did bleed a bit more than I should have with my last birth (induction...cord traction...took an hour to deliver the placenta which was manually removed from my uterus).

I had lobelia on hand in case the placenta didn't want to come out, as well as shepherds purse for excessive bleeding. It was worth the money for peace of mind.

I have Ground Ivy (Pipsissewa) to prevent retained placenta,
Angelica tincture in case of retained placenta with heavy bleeding.
Shepherds Purse tincture in case of delivered placenta with heavy bleeding.
A dime sized piece of placenta under the tongue or in the cheek for worrisome bleeding.

Motherwort tincture for shockiness and afterpains

Lots of Red Raspberry leaf and Nettle infusion before, during, and after labor will ensure high levels of Vit K and many other necessary nutrients.

This is a great thread on herbs for delivery.

I'd check and see if the MW carried herbs, since it sounds like you have one. Mine carried some. She might carry those just in case tinctures rather than have you get them. Shepherd's Purse is great to have on hand in case of PPH.

Arnica is for bruising and swelling, chlorophyll can help to recharge you after/during blood loss (marketed mostly to reduce body and breath odor though). Motherwort can calm a racing heart and can calm non labor contractions. A good iron supplement (like floridix) is also great to have when you've just given birth and through lochia.
