Can we talk about e-books? - Page 2

THANKS EVERYONE -- still trying to decide here

We bought the Sony e-reader too. It was pricey but we use it a lot for homeschooling. I download classics and stories for history, even reference books like Anna Comstock's Handbook of Nature Study guide for free all the time. The print is in e-ink so it reads like newspaper print, no glare like a computer screen. We chose the Sony for the deal with Overdrive- I am able to check out e-books from our regional library online and read them on my e-reader. Mostly though, I use it for free books/guides/curriculum for homeschooling. I love having so many resources organized in one spot, for free, waiting for us to use when we're ready (or not...). It really reduces the amount of pressure on any of us to "use" something just because we bought it, or printed it.

We also switched to a b/w laser printer a few years ago to save on printing costs- I'm a crafter and am constantly printing out patterns as well as other homeschooling resources so it was a good investment too.

I have a NookColor that I share with DS10 and we love it.  As far as I can tell the Nook supports library books, and several other formats, you can check them all out at bn.com.

As for printing, last summer I purchased a laser printer and the small cartridge that came with the machine has printed probably 1500 pages.  Repalcement cartridges run about $70.  We shop at staples becuase I can take part in the teachers rewards program as a homeschooler and get some great rewards.  The printer was about $150 and I love it.  Copier/faxer/scanner/printer...  Super fast printer...

So in my brief post, check out the e-readers and laser printers!
