Question for those who drink lots of green smoothies...re blanching/freezing veggies

For our daily smoothies I use veggies (kale, swiss chard, etc) that I have washed and frozen in baggies. They seem fine, no discoloration or taste difference in the smoothies. My mother said we should be blanching them first but that sort of defeats the purpose of making things quick and easy. Is it really critical to blanch before freezing?

By blanching you can store/keep more vitamins. They get sort of sealed in this process.

But even if you can't blanch first, this can be quite time consuming, your green smoothies are still a fantastic health booster!!!
