NIP with Lact-Aid SNS

Has anyone mastered NIP with the Lact-Aid SNS? I am looking for support and tips on the "learning curve" of mastering the Lact-Aid SNS. Also I will be babywearing him most of the time as well since I have almost 3 1/2 year old twins!

Thanks!

I'm curious too. I've used a lactaid for 4 months but never tried to do it in public. I usually expose too much getting it set up. I guess I could try to get set up under a nursing cover but I really hate those things and they totally distract DD.

I asked this same question several months ago and got some great answers if you want to do a search! Since then, I have mastered NIP with the LA myself. I put the bag in between my breasts and my undershirt and bra help hold it in place. I still have to tape the tube on, I don't know how people can do it without taping it, but I have gotten really good at taping it under my shirt doing it all by feel. I keep the tape on at all times which helps me be more discreet when I'm setting it up in public. I don't use the neck strap anymore. I quit using that after about two months when I learned the trick of sitting it down in my clothing and letting my bra hold it in place. That's it. Once it's in place you can't see it under my clothes unless I'm wearing a shirt that's got a slightly lower neckline. I make sure that the notches to pinch off the tube are facing out so I can quickly pinch it off when DD pulls off.

I'm a long time LA user. I don't tape. I just hold the tube as we latch on. I also don't mess with putting the LA under my shirt.

I never used a lactaid. I had the Medela SNS. But what I used to do was tape everything in place before I left the house, and put the milk in a separate container in a cooler, and then I just had to fill the bottle when it was time-- the tube was already ready. I guess if somebody looked really closely you could see that there's something under the shirt, but who really looks that closely at anybody really.

I've seen someone do it in public...but I don't know the details or the learning curve it took her. I do know she went to LLL and got some support at least in the beginning. She made it look totally doable so I hope that is at least encouraging! Keep asking until you find someone who can help you!
Best wishes.

We used to NIP all the time when we used the LA. I wore a t-shirt over top of a tank top with a built in shelf bra. I just discreetly dropped the bag into the space between my boobs, aimed the tube (still pinched off) at the boob I'd be using, put the baby into position, lift the t-shirt, pull down the shelf bra exposing the nipple, position the tube with my thumb and finger as baby latched on, and then released the tube with a gentle tug. Sounds complicated, but the whole process took less than a minute. If you need to, you could pop into a bathroom to get set up. I did this sometimes.
We even did this in the ergo carrier too ... the trick was loosening the side straps so that baby hung lower.

ps. We never taped.

Thanks everyone! I practiced a little this morning with my old SNS from the girls and I can see how it will work great! I'm going to measure out the milk in bottles to take along Then when he gets hungry heat up in the warmer then do the SNS assembly as we go along at each feeding. I can see how this will work nursing in the sling/pouch too! YEAH! I'm super excited!

I'll save you even more time - no need to warm the supplement

The best bras in my opinion are the ones that when the flap is open you still have fabric going all around your breast (just with a hole cut out for your areola). I like to put the lactaid in between my breasts, inside the bra, then thread the tubing under the fabric to my nipple. The fabric holds it in place nicely so you don't need tape. I never use tape either but when I wear a nursing cami I have to hold the tubing against my breast the entire time.
