Your child's favorite CD?

My son is addicted to The Wiggles and I'm trying to mix things up for his benefit and my sanity.

What is your child's current favorite CD? I need some new ideas. He loves riding in H's car because he plays bluegrass and other fun music. I don't have fun CD's like that in my car, so I keep stuff that I know that he'll enjoy, but we need something NEW!!

Laurie Berkner CD's! Her songs are simple, easy to learn, sweet, and not annoying like lots of others

She sings a lot about imagination, and has "green" songs about trees, birds, and putting in what you take from the Earth. I love her voice, and my children adore her (so does DH!) I think she's my "girl crush" if I can admit that

The Beach Boy's greatest hits.

I like songs of Eric Herman: for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yihq8BIhL9c. I think he also has cd's but we only listen on youtube (he has cute clips with the songs).

My kids love The Beatles, The Monkees, The Beach Boys, John Denver (greatest hits, all).

Also: Saltarello by Jessie Modic. She has 2 other cds for kids that we love, but that one is the favorite.

and: Not for Kids Only by jerry garcia and david grisham.

If we're talking specifically about kids music, we all really like pretty much everything by Elizabeth Mitchell, especially You Are My Little Bird. Also really fun is No! by They Might Be Giants.

Billy Jonas - What Kind of Cat Are You

Raffi, Sesame Street "Hot Hot Hot", and the Mary Poppins soundtrack get the most play lately. The SS CD is so catchy that *I* insisted on buying a new one to replace the one we lost. And Signing Time, my DS1 loves those songs.

My kids love anything by They Might Be Giants. The band has a new science CD, and we also have their numbers CD and the one called NO!.

We also listen to a lot of Trout Fishing in America; we have their Family Music Party CD that has really funny songs, some a bit fresh. There's one called "Mine" that's about not wanting to share.

Billy Jonas' What kind of Cat are You is another one we really like.

Right now my kids' favorites are CDs of silly songs my FIL likes to make for them. They have songs that aren't exactly kids' songs but are kid-friendly, like "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini" and "Cheeseburger in Paradise." He also puts in songs the kids know from playing the Rock Band video game with DH--"Living on a Prayer" and "Eye of the Tiger" and such.

Currently, the girls are into anything involving Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur, TGTBTQ) We are listening to Gorillaz right now

They also like Soul Coughing, Sublime, Michael Jackson... I'm totally no help for kid's music, eh?

Wait, They Might Be Giants are huge with them, too (ages 4 and 1).

They've enjoyed just about all of the crazy alternative rock I've thrown at them

This is a big favorite of my 5 year old.

Other favorite Kids music: The Nields - All Together Singing in the Kitchen, Sweet Honey & The Rock, Dan Zanes, Animal Playground (Putamaya), Mary Poppins soundtrack

Some favorite non-kid music (right now): Beatles, soundtrack to Singing in the Rain, Lake Street Drive (small local band), John Coltrane, The Nields (Sister Holler), Joni Mitchel & lots of my favorite stuff from the 80's.

My 1 year old LOVES Animal Playground, my Blues compilation & Dan Zanes.

I highly recommend any of the Putamaya children's CDs for a great mix of world music.

Have fun!

My 2 year old is wild and crazy about Music TogetherCDs. I don't know if you can buy them just on their own but seriously, he is rabid over this CD and cries when it stops playing. The songs are pretty catchy and not too annoying, and as a bonus they calm him down if I sing when he's tantrumming.

He also really likes Charity Kohn's (?) Peanut Butter and Jam Band. I dled all her music off iTunes and play it for him and he likes to dance to it.

I second the Elizabeth Mitchell CD. But to be honest, it's the only CD I bought specifically for my child. Otherwise, he just listens to our music. DH is totally an adult contemporary dork, so DS loves Michael Buble, of all things. In my car we listen to the NPR station, so it's either talk radio or classical music. DS hasn't complained yet.

We almost always listen to NPR in the car too lately as well as at home a lot. Poor kids, but at least they're informed .

We took a couple classes when my daughter was younger, and she did LOVE the CDs. It did begin to get on my nerves after the 312th time we listen to it on a 1000 mile round trip road trip we took when she one, but it was the only thing that kept her from crying, so it was worth it. I don't know if you can buy them new without taking a class, but someone told me once they picked up one at a thrift store.

Another favorite here is the Jungle Book soundtrack. It is fantastic, although there are a lot of (incredible) instrumentals on it.

Me too!! Sometimes I listen to her even when my girls aren't in the car!

The Twilight CD....specifically Supermassive Black Hole, anything by Daughtry, and Lady GaGa's new CD.

The only kids CD he'll listen to is the Christmas one we have.

We were big fans of The Wiggles for a smidge, but that got edges out pretty quick. I happen to love the one we have...

The only kids' music I've ever bought was the Wiggles.

Mine are pretty huge fans of alternative rock. My oldest's favorite is AFI, which I was hesitant to post, but after seeing Sublime up there, I feel much better.
