Just need some reassurance from you lovely ladies.

Alright, ladies. I know what's going on here is normal, but I really just need some reassurance and positive vibes sent my way. I don't have a whole lot of a support system right now. (DP is in Afghanistan. DM lives out of State. Just an insanely anxious DMIL and my midwives, who are awesome.)

This is my second HBAC. With my first, I had prodromal labor for 3 or 4 nights prior to waking up in active labor early on morning and had my beautiful baby the next afternoon.

Well, here I am, 40w2d and was having the same prodromal labor for 2 evenings. Until yesterday, when I had spontaneous, mild contractions all day. And then they picked up at 11pm and I was having fairly uncomfortable contractions all evening, being able to sleep in between for a few hours. I started having bloody show early this morning, and then everything seemed to halt as the morning turned into day.

I'm still having contractions that I'd rate a 4 or 5, but they aren't establishing a pattern. I'll have a cluster of 4 or 5 that are very close together, and then I'll go 30min-1hour without having another. So on and so forth.

What's going on? Why isn't my body cooperating with me?

Your body might just still be getting ready.... not quite in labor. Its also possible that you are a little anxious for a real labor pattern to start and the adrenaline produced by your brain (and possibly your MILs) could be preventing your body from releasing the hormones necessary to send you into active labor.... either way, try and relax and concentrate on trusting your body and its instincts and you will see your baby soon

I can't say anything you don't already know... but hang in there!

My money's on your having gone into labor last night. but it definately sounds like your body is gearing up for the big show in the next couple days. I almost always get a "dress rehearsal" and am 5cm by the time real labor starts. It's frustrating, but hang in there!
