BabyHawk in wet parking lots~ideas?

So I finally got my much wanted BabyHawk, and it's love love love

I live in the cold snowy wet Northeast and I just had a vision of ruining the ends of the straps of my BabyHawk by having them drag in the snow and slush of parking lots as I try and tie up. Have any of you crafty Mommas come up with a solution to protect the ends from being dragged in the wet?

I hope so!

You can tie it loosely w/o baby inside (while sitting in the car), then put the baby in and retie to tighten. This has worked quite well for me in the rain.

See pop 'em in front carry:

With my wrap, I stand by the car door where the baby is, and drape the ends inside the car as I get it all arranged.
