Breasting feeding commercial!

Last night, there was this documentary on discovery health called "freebirthing". I really appreciated how all the moms were very pro-freebirthing but rather disappointed at how the OBs portrayed it.

Anyhow, during the commercials, I saw one that was repeated at least twice. It was a pro-breastfeeding commercial!! I've never seen anything but formula ads, but this was different. It showed a woman going to the grocery store and picking up a glass container of breastmilk and later on a bus reading a paper with the back page being one giant ad for breastmilk with "get one free" coupons. The narrator was saying how breastmilk can't be bought in a store and that choosing to breast feed was the best choice for mom and baby. It even showed a mom nursing her baby! Apparently it was for Medela breast pumps and supplies.

I thought it was pretty awesome. I'm glad to see breastfeeding commercials instead of those horrid formula ones.

Uh-oh, there was a loooong thread about this very commercial some time ago here on MDC. It was a very controversial thread because of Code violations in the commercial (if I remember it right).

There's just been a short-ish thread on the same commercial! I'll have to look for the long thread as I'm quite interested in other people's opinions.

Yes, please share the link to that longer thread! I'm very mixed on Medela.

Here's the long thread: "Medela & the WHO Code"

I'm really interested to hear that people are seeing this commercial on TV and thinking it's an ad for breastfeeding instead of an ad for Medela bottles and nipples.
