Feel like giving up

I clothed diapered baby #4 solely for the first 6 months, Honestly I felt guilty to put a sposie on him....then we moved to Mexico....even hand washed my diapers and hung them out to dry. Stripped them over a open fire pit in boiling water twice. I was dedicated...until we moved when babe was 7 months old. We lived with friends who were fabric softener friendly...and i couldn't ask them to stop using that...so i just used sposies.....and now...I've been doing about 50/50....and I'm not liking cloth at all. I've used just about one of everything out there. My favorite is green mountain prefolds and motherease covers w a snappi. I loved my WAHM wool longies....but they are in storage 6 hrs away!
We dont have hot water nor do we have a dryer.....the prefolds are stiff all the time....babe seems to get a rash real fast..(probably need to strip again)(ughhhhhh) Am I lazy or what's gotten into me? My husband will not put cloth on the babe....I guess he's too nervous..whatever!!!! I dont get much help from him as far as child rearing is concerned. So i feel exhausted keeping up with our 1y/o and everything else. Should i be asking for you to talk me back into cloth? Maybe...should I ask you...is it ok to give up? I dont know...but any words of wisdom is very much welcomed!
Thanks mamas!

Sounds like you've done so much more than most people would be willing to. Think of all the dipes you've saved from the landfill. We just need to do our best each day. Some days for me that means disposables 'cause I am just making it through, other days that means I'm super dedicated to my cloth. Try to give yourself a guilt break.

I agree youve been a hard working cding mama. If you dont have the cd love anymore or energy its ok to quit just because you start doesnt mean thats what you HAVE to stick w/it. Go easy on yourself!

Hi Mama. I agree with the pp's. We use cloth because we feel that it is better for our baby and our world, right? So if it's giving baby a rash and causing you stress/anxiety on a regular basis, then it's not really doing it's "job". Maybe at some point you'll be back in a place that would make cd'ing easier, and you could always take it up again then if you want, but I wouldn't feel bad about quitting if it's just too much.

Way to go hanging in there this long!

Manda el sol aqui a Michigan, no? Ya esta haciendo frio...

It would be very difficult to cloth diaper with no hot water. Don't feel guilty for using disposable diapers, feel good knowing you can save that time you would have spent agonizing over the cloth to instead relax and enjoy your family!

I would suggest the flushable G diapers, but those might not work if you are still in Mexico. I know they don't flush their TP there, so you probably can't flush one of those diapers.

It sounds like you're in a rough spot for cloth diapering. I don't blame you for being sick of it. It doesn't have to be anything permanent either.

There are those flushable liners at gro baby and I'm sure you could just trash it if there is no flushable toilets out there. Either way, I don't think there's anything wrong with using sposies to save your sanity. Good Luck!
