Baby makes "smacking" sound when sidelying nursing?

I recently started sidelying nursing with LO who is 7 weeks old. While we have a great day time latch (cradle hold), at night, something is not right with the sidelying position. Once she starts sucking, she makes a "lip smacking" type sound - even though it seems like she is getting enough milk and also, the latch doesn't hurt.

Any suggestions on how to correct this?

thanks!

my lo does that when her tongue is not completely under the nipple. we can't do the side-lying position because she can not latch good enough and gets angry. it may take a few nights, but it could still make you sore. if she's making the smacking sounds, you might need to reposition her a bit. good luck!

Are you latching her on while lying down? I've found it harder for DS to get a really good latch when I attempt to help him while lying down. A lot of times I'll sit up and get a good latch and THEN lie down with him and that will usually fix things.
