Grieving?

Hi everyone,

I have on DS who is 19 months old (almost 20!) and still nursing although he's losing interest and I feel he may self-wean soon. I didn't expect this to happen so I'm finding myself sad at the prospect of him weaning completely. Has anyone else experienced this?

You know, our ds went through a stage of nursing less and I thought that that would be the end, and you know - he's still nursing, have a weekend of nursing in bed with him and see what happens, just offer a little more, if he's not interested during the day, then let him nurse more at night - there are lots of little things you can do to keep up the nursing if you want to. If you are not inclined then you need to find a way within yourself to accept that your nursing relationship is developing into something else - it'll develop throughout your lives together into something fusional and wonderful that both parent and child will benefit from.
