Reduced nursing for an extended period?

DD was EBF to 5.5 months. She showed some signs that she was ready for solids- sitting unassisted, practicing her pincer grip, grabbing my food etc so I did some pears, egg yolk, barley with her. Now she eats bits of table food... kind of halfassed BLW.

Meanwhile, she also started getting bottles while I worked (goat's milk formula.) I pumped at work till two weeks ago, when it became nearly impossible to continue (promotion that meant a great deal to our family.)

So now I have an 8 month old babe who nurses just at night- once at bedtime, occasionally two times if she has a wakeful night.

My question is have any of you been able to keep this up for an extended period of time? Nursing once per day, and maintaining appropriate supply just for that session? I don't want to fully wean before a year, but quite frankly am not interested in ramping my supply back up fully. I am keeping her on the breast until she loses interest or I dry up totally (I will not allow this to happen till we are through this flu season.)

Well, when my son turned one I stopped pumping at work. I can't honestly remember how often he breastfed at that point - evenings and night-time only, although I guess we might have had a feed first thing in the morning.

We weaned at 3.5, so kept going for 2.5 more years.
