not officially a member of your ddc (was due in oct) but i was interested to see where other babies her age are. i've spent the last 4 wks holding her but since we tried so hard, had a loss, had a horrific pg, and ended up in the nicu for 17 days, i'm good with holding her 24/7!

Susanna is almost always in the sling or being held or it's family nap time and we're in bed. She will go down alone, though. However, we do not own a crib or anything like it to put her in so I really can't put her down and leave her. I am just used to holding her because Gabe would not ever sleep alone as a baby (don't worry, he sleeps alone fine now that he's 2).

Tip for holding sleeping baby at the computer: Put baby in sling, put Boppy/pillow on your lap, loosen sling and lay baby on Boppy. Nice and supportive and mommy gets both hands.

mine takes naps in either the bouncy seat or lamb swing for daytime naps. some days he prefers one over the other. he does need the constant motion to go down though - but i almost always try to stop it after he has fallen asleep...at that point he will go up to 2hrs+ but stirs a lot (as he does at night). i have learned to leave him alone when he starts to grumble/grunt/and whine - because 90% of the time he is doing it in his sleep and will go right back to sleep. or we rock a little and hes good to go.

at night he sleeps on the boppy pillow in the bed. i feed him and then burp - let him fall asleep on my shoulder and then i set him down on the boppy. sometimes he goes straight donw - sometimes he'll cry and i have to bounce him on the e-ball or in my arms for a bit and try again. usually never takes more than a 1/2hr though. then throughout the night - same deal. i consider myself lucky he doesn't need a whole lot of soothing after feedings to go to sleep not on me. sometimes if he is real fussy - i will put him on my chest (on his side) and pop a pacifer in his mouth. he'll tucker out and then i put him back on the Boppy next to me. score! only problem with this is that since he is swaddled and stirs so much in his sleep (Gas pains) - he always winds up inching his head off the pillow and gets his neck all crunked up in his shoulders - so i have to constantly lift him back up ALL NIGHT. which he tolerates w.o waking. its annoying - but working for the time being.

i tried to get a wedge pillow from BB&B, but he keeps sliding down on that too! my husband suggested we just attach some velcro to the back of his miracle blanket and stick him on. haaaaaaa

Charlotte likes to sleep IN BED. She really is alot like her eldest sister that way. And she HATES it when she is awoken not on her terms - or in the middle of her 'cycle' (meaning - eat play sleep cycle) When she wakes up, it's time to eat, and if her belly doesn't wake her up (rather, we wake her up) She's PISSED.

She's starting to grow accustomed to the 'pre sleep' cues though (like swaddling her) and starts crying. It's actually pretty amusing!

She will sleep in the sling/mei tai if we're out. In the stroller if we're OUTSIDE (in her carseat - something about the cold?), and in the car in her carseat. She also likes the swing, VERY occassionally. Otherwise, if we're in the house, she's swaddled and in her crib. (in the bassinet, in her crib - she has a bit of a nest happening in there )

She basically takes 3 or 4 naps a day ranging from 1.5 to 4 hours....Lately at night she's been going from 7/8pm until 4/5am, and then right back down until 7/8/9am. Last night she went down at 8pm and woke at 4am (old time) then at 7:30am new time. Went back to sleep at 8:30 and slept until 10:30, went back to sleep around 11:45 and slept until 12:30, went back down at 1:30 and is still down now (at about 2:20).....

She will take her biggest nap of the day in her bed and nowhere else. But she likes to be held for her little catnaps throughout the day. Sometimes I can lay her down for her catnaps but she will wake up after about 20-30 minutes. I usually wear her for the shorter naps or pop her in the swing. It definitely depends on her mood and the time of day though.
