What happened to our nights?

DS (3.5 months) was a great sleeper from around 2 weeks-2.5 months. He would sleep a 5-6 hour stretch from 10pm- 3 or 4am, nurse, and then again until 7am and nurse again. Fantastic. For the past month we are lucky to get this maybe once a week. Every night now is awake at midnight (not always to nurse), again at 2 or 3, nurse, again at 5ish, nurse, again at 6:30-7. Sometimes a waking episode can last for an hour before he falls back to sleep.

He is a great napper, but only gets a total of around 3-4 hours of naps a day, so I don't think its too much. He is generally happy all day, nurses about every 2.5 to 3 hours (ebf), and has slept in our bed since birth.

What are we doing wrong? Could DS not be a good Co-sleeper? We have an arm's reach but haven't tried it yet- maybe its worth a shot?

I have read the sears book and the NCSS and I can't find anything that really works- he just wakes up again and again. I am starting to go insane from lack of sleep!

Normal. Unfortunately. I just came here to read some posts to remind myself of this My son, 4 months yesterday, has been going through some really terrible sleep patterns recently. I'm exhausted. But I've been here before and know it gets better. And then worse, and then better, etc.

Off to attempt a nap with him. We'll see. . . . I need some ZZZZ's.

classic 4 month sleep regression, i would say. search kellymom.com for a good explanation of this, but basically about this age they start developing like crazy and it disrupts their sleep. patience and love! you can definitely try your arm's reach and see if it gets you more sleep though. why not!
