We had grilled pork ribs (with BBQ sauce) awhile back and saved the bones. I just took them out of the freezer this morning and put them in a large stock pot and covered with water and added a splash of red wine vinegar. I let it sit for about a half-hour while I cleaned out the fridge and freezer.
It is simmering now (barely simmering) to make a bone broth.
I have made chicken bone broth for just over a year and beef bone broth a handful of times. This is my first time with pork since we don't eat it very often (took a few meals to have enough bones). The BBQ sauce flavor is throwing me off.
What would you add to the bone broth at this point? How many hours would you simmer the bones? I am guessing between the chicken bone recommendations (1-2 days) and the beef bone recommendations (2-3 days), which would be two days?
What would you turn this broth into for a filling and nutritious dinner? I'll freeze some for our regular bone broth uses (cooking rice and making soup), but I'd like to make a meal (main course, preferably, or side dish) from the majority of it for Saturday or Sunday night's dinner.
Thanks!
