has anyone actually tried this?

Not only tried, trying to figure out if we can recreate it!

I had it on a pizza. My first foray into fake cheese since cutting out dairy in june 07... It was pretty good, with good texture. A little soft, and a little on the bland side, but otherwise VERY full of potential.

But then I reacted to the pizza My prime suspect is the crust, though.

Where on earth did you find it? I couldn't find anyplace on the East Coast that carries it.

Oh, I see a pizzeria listed in St. Louis that carries it, but no other locations in the whole state- not even just to buy it! I wonder if the pizzeria makes gf pizza? I will have to check that out the next time we visit up there. I have a few recipes bookmarked of cheeses to try, but have never gotten around to making them. I am hoping that we can tolerate some "real" raw cheese somtime in the future.

Noone carries it that I can see. However I am lucky enough to have been gifted some by a friend who ordered 10 pounds off of ye olde internet. .

I looked and you can order the two flavors in 5 pound bags. They ship it with a cold pack. Someone said that you can also order smaller amounts, for a heftier price. I plan on ordering a bunch after I try it though. My kids are going to FREAK.

$40 for 5 pounds. That's really not so bad. Especially since raw cheese is still a major no-go around here!

I checked an buying a pound was about $10, but $7 shipping! I would hate to buy 5lbs of something never having tried it! I was planning on a raw grassfed dairy trial at the beginning of the year, so perhaps I will just wait until then and see how that goes!

Yeah, we know dairy is a no go and I have the added bonus of trying it first. However the reviews I've heard and read (oh my gus, it's being blogged about all over the place!) are all good. Most are excellent. I'm holding off only because I may be convincing mom and sis to order with me. But I can definitely see waiting if you think dairy may be an option that soon. Since my whole darned family is dairy free (and our last one day raw sheep milk trial went horribly awry) I'm okay with committing!

I'll give my review by tomorrow!

Ya, I seen tons of reviews of it online when trying to see where it was available. I will be anxious to see your thoughts. I love that it is soyfree. I hope that a lot of the df/gf products go to that as opposed to the soy cheese as that would open up those options to so many more people. I am optimistic about the dairy trial, but who knows. Too many times it seems that things pass just to have a build up and dairy is a BIG one.

We have issues with dairy, and I would love a good cheese option. We are only good with parmasean cheese from one maker over many others, and very few hard aged cheeses. Still we don't feel that great, so I try to hold off on cheese. We are only really good with raw 24 hour goats milk yogurt.

My only thought on this ceese are all the ingredients. I don't like many of them and would be really careful that the "natural flavoring" doesn't have MSG.

I do like the fact that the lecithin is not soy based.

From the site:

Free of common allergens including:
Soy, Casein, Lactose, Gluten, Egg, Wheat, Barley, Corn, Whey, Rice, and Nuts
That is AWESOME! And it's grain free as well!

I can't wait to here what you think PB! I may need to try this out too...

Can't wait to try this!!!

I saw this when it was mentioned on the chat thread, and it does look promising! We can't do ot now because we are SCD, but maybe for the future! The only thing int he ingredient list that made me pause was "pea protein", hoping that is in no way related to peanuts. We eat peas fine, but are allergic to peanuts here.

5 thumbs way up over here. We tried the mozzarella and even my very hard to please dh thought it was great. It was melty and gooey and the kids begged for more! Of course this is the first time they have ever had pizza with cheese.

Thanks so much for the review! This is very exiting!!

can you post a link to the place that had the 5lb bags? Might be willing to take a chance.

Woudln't it be nice to live closer together so we coudl save on some shipping! I don't think I know of anyone local that would be interesting in buying this, if they are cheese free most do soy substitutes.
