I don't know if this is the right area but looking for natural minded birthing options on Guam.
Mother would love to know the names of local douas and midwives if any?

Thanks,

Hi Kendra,

I am in Guam, but did not have my DD here. I do however, have many friends on and off base who are pregnant, and or have given birth here.

There is one Birthing Center here, which is wonderful, but they are not as natural minded as *I* personally would like, and I have heard the same complaints from other friends. They will not let you birth in the water, they seem quick to induce, and will not take any high risk patients including twins, breech birth etc.

There are NO midwives here that attend homebirths. It's not that they are not allowed it's that no one ever went to the trouble of getting the proper documentation or going through the correct channels.

So either the birth center or a U.C are generally the to options here. I have a great friend who is a doula and there are a few others I can give you the numbers of.

Are you moving here and planning to have a new baby soon?

Hope this helped!

Hi Vicky,

I believe they will arrive on the island just after New Year. Is there any way you could email me. I'd love to get the names/contacts of those doulas you mentioned.
My email address is Kendra@toothlessgrin.com

I see this couple on Wed for their next class and would love to be able to give them some names and email addresses if you could share.

Thank you so much!

I lived on Guam a few years ago. I was 8 months pregnant when we left the island, so I had all my prenatal care in Guam. There is a birthing center, Sagua Managu, on Guam. I was borderline gestational diabetic, but they still agreed to take me. My doctor was Kaaren Zvonik. She was really great, I loved her. I wasn't very crunchy back then though so maybe my opinion would change now?!!? The only doulas on Guam when I was there were part of Sagua Managu. Perhaps if you contact them you can get the names. The Sagua Managu phone number is: 671-648-6363

Thank you, Barbara. I printed out your message and have it ready for her to take home with the rest of the materials this evening. Last class so this came just in time.
