how long after nursing before you started ovulating? (x-posted)

dh and i have already planned on trying for baby#2 as soon as our new ds turns 1. I planned on nursing for at least a yr, will I have to stop to get fertile again?

I started having periods again eight weeks postpartum. I was not charting, so I don't know my ovulation status, but my periods were as regular as they were before. Yes, I was nursing full-time, with no supplementing. Just "lucky" I guess.

Myself, didn't start ovulating until we hit 2 years (nursed until just shy of 3 years) so it can vary widely.

If you check out ttc forum, there are herbs that you can take while bf that can speed up your fertility comeback, and for some just night-weaning can help too.

I ovulated 2 weeks after DD3 was born (got pg with DS that day) and 5wks after DS was born. I was exclusively pumping after DD3 and exclusively nursing after DS.

I'm gonna temp again after this baby is born 'cause I'm curious.

I think it varies widely...if you approach a year and you're still not ovulating, you can try night weaning or increasing the time between nursing and that might help. FOr most women, I don't think it's necessary to wean completely

21 months last time, when she nursed only 2x a day

When I nursed the twins I resumed periods at 12 months. With my youngest, I was nursing her full time and pumping part time for another baby and resumed periods at 11 months. Some people might have to wean to get fertility back by the year point, but I certainly didn't.

I wasn't charting so I don't know if I was ovulating, but I didn't get a period until DS was 13 months old.

Ditto with dd. My periods were totally regular starting at 13 months pp.
