Good places to get yarn?

Of course I've been to ACmoore and Michael's, and there was a Sheep & Wool festival nearby recently (though darn, that stuff was expensive!), but that's all I know about so far. Are there any great sites with nice-quality yarn that won't break the bank? Like, I saw some on Etsy tonight that looked nice...

I just want to make sure I'm not missing some major resource...
Thanks!

I do most of my yarn shopping at my local yarn store. I like being able to see/feel the yarn in person, and the owner of the shop I go to has always been wonderfully helpful as well.

knitpicks.com ~ their Wool of the Andes is decent and a good price.

alpacadirect.com ~ Cascade220 is only $6-$7 /skein and it's soft and sturdy.

Ebay has some pretty stuff, but I'm leery of buying there.

It probably depends on what type of yarn you want. I really like this website for yarn, but it's a store a lot like Michaels. Are you looking for natural fibers with hand-dyed and such or are you willing to settle for soft acrylic and cotton? The places you buy them would be different.

I can't afford to spend $12+ on a skein so what I usually do is get nice sweaters at Goodwill ($1-5), wash them, and unravel the yarn. Look for 100% wool sweaters or wool blends. Don't waste your time with acrylic. There are several good tutorials online that can show you how to do this but it took me a few sweaters to get the hang of it. It's a really affordable way to get some really good yarn.
