Any good deals on coats?

I missed out on that LL Bean deal but my 10 year old needs a jacket, and I prefer not to spend 50+ dollars! Any good stores or deals for kids outerwear?

None that I know of but you can get very good condition LL bean jackets on ebay for a fraction of the cost. I will always get my kids LL bean for winter coats because I know I can pass it down from older child to younger child. The quality is fantastic and I know they last. I have a Baxter state parka from them that I've had for 15 years? Still looks brand new even though its seen a ton of use.

I went to a local COLUMBIA outlet and got my 9 yr old ds a fleece (all that we need in AZ) for $11 after tax and discounts, the tag says orig price $68 thats just crazy imo. I haven't been to Columbia.com but now that I think about it I just may have to check it out. BTW they had some smoking deals on shoes too.

If you want to find some online discount codes, you can always check
www.retailmenot.com and see if any stores you like have discounts right now.

try the overstock section at Lands End, I have been able to find great deals there

DDs coats for the last few years have come from ebay. There are lots to choose from, new or used, many brands. Check shipping, though, sometimes it is more than the cost of the coat. I have also found great deals at www.kidsurplus.com

Does it have to be name brand? You can get some generic brand coats pretty cheaply everywhere. I just bought a thick, puffy, waterproof winter coat for DS from Costco for $25.

We have had good luck with Old Navy. They put the outerwear on sale for 50% off and you can get a good boys coat for around $25.

I went in Burlington Coat Factory the other day and they had tons of stuff at prices like T.J. Maxx/Marshall's but more stock and actually organized.

Or try Sierra Trading Post.

I bought DS a cute coat at Target. They're $20 right now (normally $27) and are 4-in-1: they have a removeable hood, a fleece inside that can be worn as a liner or alone, the outside can be worn alone (good for spring time- waterproof but lighter), and they can all be worn together.

It seems to be good quality, especially since they grow too much to wear them more than a season anyway. And, they have matching snow bibs for $10!

I know it's hit and miss, but I've found awesome coats for my kids the last two years at our thrift store, Value Village. One columbia, one land's end, one brand that I'm not sure but a very nice warm one with a zip in liner. All for around $7! So if you're willing to look for a bit and hit a few thrift stores, you might be able to find one.

FYI the lady at old navy today told me that starting next friday all outerwear will be 50% off for a weak (i think online too). The boys winter coats there at full price are $39.40 so that will be a good deal!
Oh and if you use your old navy card it will be an extra 30% off! so 80%!

bumping in hopes that people will use these resources for HH Coat Week!

Good thread. My twin boys need coats (one is wearing his sisters and my Smother in Law gave him grief the other day - sheesh). But at even $20 each, that's $40 and we cannot swing that at the moment. I've been eyeing thrift stores but it's like they are upping prices due to people needing coats right now - gah!
