Natural rash remedies and pocket diapers

I'm trying to clear up a diaper rash. I've tried a few days of 'sposies to no avail, so I want to try tea tree oil (5 drops per 1/4 cup, right?) and olive oil in an attempt to clear it up. My question is, do I need to use a liner when I'm coating DS's diaper area with that? I'm using Bum Genius one sizes in the mornings (until DS does his daily poop), and then a mix of BG's and prefolds for the rest of the day. I'm not worried about the prefolds, but I'm not terribly fond of them because of the covers we have for them, so I'd like to continue using the BG's if I can. So can I use the TTO/olive oil concoction with the BG's without having to strip them, or will I have to use a liner? DS hates the liners for whatever reason.

Or if anyone else has had success clearing up diaper rash in BG's without having to use a liner or strip, I'd love to hear your remedies! Thanks!

try using a flannel insert for a barrier. The cotton could be better against the skin.
As much open air time if possible too!

I am a huge fan of Bag Balm -- the good ole green tin kind. But I used prefolds with it so I don't know the impacts of it on other diapers. By the time my children were in other diapers they were older toddlers. So take this with a grain of salt.

Really? No one else has any pocket friendly rash remedies?

Haven't used it, but supposedly Northern Essence is a CD-friendly rash remedy.

Personally, my first approach to diaper rash is to maximize diaper free time. There's another thread about this running around somewhere, I think it's called 'can't seem to kick this rash' - people had various suggestions on there as well.

Yeah. DS has been on the blanket, covered with towels, covered with prefolds, most of the morning. He seems to love being pants free

This is what I just started doing. Cut up a flannel receiving blanket into dipaers sized rectangles and just kept using the Burt's Bees cream that I like and know works well for my sensitive skinned, chronically rashy babies.

But I'd love to hear of other cd friendly rash remedies too. We can no longer go diaper free indoors as ds is walking all over the house.
