knitting bag

I would like to knit up a knitting project bag for myself. At first, I was thinking about doing a felted bag, because I want it to last a long time. But, I wasn't very excited about felting. So, now, I'm wondering about using a soft, nice acrylic, like this. I'm using this yarn for some socks and am really liking it. I would have to use some really small needles, like 4s. I could also double or triple the strands. I love how soft it is and that I can throw it in the washer if I want.

What are your recommendations for a bag. I really want something that will hold its shape and not stretch.

your best bet would be to line it with fabric. every yarn stretches some more some less. but lining it will mean it can't stretch.

Totally agree with the lining - that was the first thought that popped into my head when I read your post.

I've used the microspun for things for dd, but I don't know how well it would hold up as a knitting bag which gets lots of use - at least mine gets pretty abused...dropped on the floor, always with me so in constant use, needles poking through. (I gave up & use a gardening bag - very sturdy canvas, lots of pockets on the outside & big enough for all my stuff).
