How long from losing your plug till labor started?

I know some people lose their plug in labor (that was my prior birth) and some lose it days (or weeks?) before labor... What's typical? Does it just vary from person to person (ie, Mary always goes into labor within a day, but Jane may last all week), or can the same person have drastically different time tables?

I lost my plug last night and now my mind is racing as to whether I'm likely to go into labor today/tonight or if I may well have a week.

I've never had bloody show, any obvious lost mucus plug, or diarrhea before I was in full blown active labor. It would be nice to at least get a heads up once in a while LOL.

I had some nausea two nights before DS was born, along w/ nightsweats, etc. I think that was a big hormonal shift. At the time I thought it was food poisoning and told DH he undercooked whatever he made on the grill No nausea/sweats the night before I went into labor.

TMI-With DD I was totally constipated the day I went into labor (the opposite of what I've always heard I should expect...go figure). And during labor as well.

I'm no help LOL.

Oh, and was dilated 2-3 cm and 80% effaced for weeks with DS before going into active labor. With DD (my 2nd) I was not yet dilated at all 1-2 days before I went into labor with her.

Apparently my body doesn't like to clue me in in advance

I lost my plug 6 days before going into labor. I happened to have a midwife appointment the same day I lost my plug and she told me I was 75% effaced and 1 cm dilated.

No bloody show for me until I was in labor.

I lost mine about two weeks ago. Still waiting for labor to start. I'm 3.5 cm dilated and 70% effaced.

Oh, and I'm 39 weeks tomorrow, with a baby the midwife estimates is already 9 pounds or more.

36 hours exactly-- but I had some mild cramping/pre-labor contractions which began in the same bathroom trip in which I lost the plug... they just got stronger and stronger until I was in "real" labor, about 18 hours later.

Not pregnant right now, but with my last baby (in June) I lost my mucuous plug 2 and 1/2 hours before our son was born (it was my 4th).

Mine came our ove several days and it was about a week before birth.

It was over the course of a day, had the baby that night (3am).

I don't actually remember losing it with my first!

DD1 was born weeks after losing it, DD2 months, I never saw one with DS.

with my first i lost part sunday night, part monday morning, then was in early labor late wednesday night

second, i was losing good size chunks for like 2 weeks, but about 2 hours before early labor started, first thing in the morning while still in bed, i felt something wet in my underwear and thought, "no way did my water just break" went to the bathroom, pulled down my underwear and a MASSIVE glob of mucus drips out, holy cow that thing almost hit the floor (while still, er, attached)

with my first, i lost it around 5 or 6 AM, also had diarrhea around that time, then was in labor by 3. With my second, I lost my plug around 6 and was in active labor by 8. no diarrhea till labor started that time. This time around, i'm going to be so convinced that it will mean the baby is coming... and i bet i won't go into labor for a week, just to confuse me lol

I've always lost my plug 2-3 weeks before the baby came. I'd get all excited only to wait and wait and wait.

With DS, I lost the whole plug moments before my water broke and then labor started 30 minutes later. With DD, I started losing it a week before my water broke and then labor started 30 minutes later. It just kept coming during that week, but I did have noticeably more just hours before my water broke.

I lose small amounts starting around 35 weeks, but when I start losing large amounts it's always an indicator with me. With #1 I lost a lot the day before I went into labor and with #2 lost a lot before I went to bed and went into labor in the early morning hours. Had a lot of bloody show during labor with #1 but not as much with #2.
