So I've been putting my 5 week old in a Happy Hempys with a Babykicks hemp insert doubled for overnight. It's so bulky that his legs are spread wide, but I figured it'd be lots of absorbency. I'm putting an Imse Vimse cover over it. Even changing him halfway through the night, the entire diaper is sopping wet (even the laundry tabs), and the outside of the cover is soaked, and it has wicked to the bed. I'm careful to make sure that none of the diaper is sticking out, so I'm guessing I'm just lacking enough absorbency. But what else can I add to this, if he can't even go 4 hours with 10 layers of hemp? Last night I added another doubler, which was another 3 layers of OCF (6 layers in the wet zone), but it didn't seem to make a bit of difference. I have wool to put him in (just got around to lanolizing yesterday), but considering the amount of pee, I don't know that the wool is really going to make much of a difference.
The wet dipe doesn't seem to bother him, and it's not causing a rash, it's just that it's soaking the bed every night. I've taken to putting him to sleep on a changing pad, but that's not really a solution, just a band-aid.
Thoughts? Ideas? BTDT?
