My black dog is turning brown

My little rottie mix is starting to get browner especially on his back legs, haunches and face. If you pull up his fur his undercoat is brown. Is this normal? He regulary goes on kibble strikes knowing my toddler will share plenty of snacks. Do you think it could be nutrient related?

My black dog is doing this, as well. I think it could be from her winter coat coming in? No ideas otherwise.

Sometimes this is nutrition related. A black dog that s brown on one food will go back to black on another. So, there may be something to that idea. Another thing that can cause this is too much sun. I don't know how much sun your dog gets, but some dogs do get sun damage to their coats which causes the brown discoloration.

Hmm thanks for the thoughts. I'm off to contemplate the feasability of putting the dogs on a raw diet. It will be healthier for my toddler at any rate :yuck

My black dog does this...and so do many others I know. He is fed a raw diet and is only outside when we are.

I do not have a dog but when it is shedding time my all black cat his undercoat is brown. Also my aunts dog where he was black his undercoat (in shedding seasons) looked brown but they both stayed black
