how to back carry?

Thread Starter
i have a handmade ring sling, and i've used it a few times with varying results. it is not stretchy--more like a linen.
I'd like to try him on my back....i have no idea how. like a piggy back?
Any descriptions or video links to help out a newbie?

TIA.

btw, he's 6 mo now.

For a ring sling back carry, he should have excellent head control. Here's a pictorial on doing a back carry with rebozo, but the same applies with a ring sling.

I have to say, with a baby at 6 months, I really don't recommend a back carry in a ring sling. I'm not a big fan of ring slings for a back carry anyway, as I just don't think they're secure enough. I'd recommend a wrap or a mei tai instead, something where you can have fabric securely under the bottoms and legs more easily than with a ring sling. These are both carriers you can make yourself. There's instructions for a no-sew gauze wrap at www.mamatoto.org, and the DIY forum at www.thebabywearer.com is a great resource for making your own mei tai.
