My aunt introduced me to the mothering community as a college student in the early 90's. Starting with her 'social struggles' with home schooling back then, and her passion, in the face of unnecessary obstacles to an already challenging commitment, i found a kindred community. The acceptance of home schooling these days, as well as the growth of the mothering community are great signs for the future. Its proof that women like my aunts struggles and commitment were really worth something. Special thanks to the mothers who are now the grand mothers, and also the new moms trying to fill their shoes.
Now i have a family of my own, its awesome to see how much we have been positively influenced from this community, and we are still very involved. My wife kelly is already active in these forums and community and i wanted to introduce myself and put myself out there as a resource as well. My areas of interests center around the advocacy of children and there creative development. I am currently exploring and studying Infant visual stimulation IVS and early brain development. My angles always seems to lean toward creative development and artistically educational advancement. I have been developing concepts concerning what i call:' Compound IVS'. It is an artistic theory that i hope can increase the basic IVS principles into more powerful, dynamic developmental tools.
I am also an advocator of organic and safe products for our families. I have been involved with the advocacy of organic farming, specifically the development and propagation of organic textiles and clothing. After 20 years, I am so happy to see how far this industry has developed and become viable. I am current on topics and industry trends concerning Phthalates and other potentially harmful aspects of products also. If anyone is also interested in any of this stuff let me know!
