Just found out DH has never had chicken pox, now what? - Page 2

I don't recall having CP and my parents insist I've never had it. I've been exposed at least a dozen times. My titers show immunity.

Adult survivor of CP here. Yes it wasn't fun. Had I to do it over and the vax was an option, I would pass.

Thanks for all of the great responses. DH says he won't get the chicken pox vax. He says he hasn't gotten it in 43 years and hasn't been worried so he won't start now in spite of the doctor trying to instill the fear of life into us about it.

I did have it as a child yet when I was tested as an adult tests
came as negative..

whatever it ment was that I was going back to school and
school required vaccing so I was hoping that I can just
do the test for antibodies and I will be off the hook..

regardless I was not and I was required to be vaxed..
and after being vaccinated I would have to wait
a year or so to be safe for me to get pregnant..
and then we decided that I did not really wanted
to be vaccinated before having a child in any case
because I would never know how it might affect pregnancy
in the future so..

instead I chose not get vaxed and we went ahead and decided to
have a baby instead of me going back to school since at that time
we had no option to opt out the vacc so it was either or..
and and we did just that.. had a baby put away the education.

while I was pregnant I spent good few months at home trying to avoid
chances of getting any deseases that could harm the baby
including the flu. I was going for walks but no stores or church
or any public places or places with kids.

IT was not easy but it was doable. I would do it again if I had to choose
again.

That is NOT true. CP as a childhood disease is typically fairly mild and self-limited, but it is a MUCH more serious disease when contracted in adulthood.

For the OP, I would have your **DH** vaxed.

If an unvaxed kid hasn't had the CP by age 15 or so I would get the vax then, generally speaking.
