Psoriasis and caprylic acid. Possible connection?

I get psoriasis during winter. I haven't had an outbreak at all while living 5 years in sunny AZ. But two years ago we moved to CO. First winter was fine. But last winter I had the worst outbreak in my life. It started soon after I started taking Caprylic acid supplement. Could it be the two connected? I googled the possible connection and found nothing except a mentioning that psoriasis likes acid. But other than that nothing really.
I would want to take caprylic acid supplement again, but I'm just too scared now.
What do you guys think?

I don't even know what caprylic acid is, but the possible connection between psoriasis and acid is an interesting one. I'll have to research that a bit.

Interesting. I first got psoriasis about a year and a half ago. I had been using coconut oil for about a year before that. Hmm.

Oh wow, it's an acid found in coconut oil? I should have looked it up before...I wonder if there IS some connection there? My daughter developed psoriasis around the same time I added coconut oil to the family's diet...weird. I guess I will stop feeding her coconut oil now and see if it helps.

i don't think that eating coconut oil would cause it. it doesn't have nearly as much concenrtation of caprylic acid as a caprylic acid supplement that i was taking last year. plus coconut oil is very healthy (I personally think it's the best oil out there). I cook everything with coconut oil and while i do have few patches of psiriasis this winter it's a far cry from the bad outbreak i had last winter when i was taking caprylic acid supplement to keep yeast in check.

by the way, sun (direct sun on the affected area) is the only thing that helps me to stay psiriosis free. too bad i no longer live in AZ (I didn't have a single outbreak for five years straight while living in AZ).
