That reading was really powerful. It makes me really sad for baby boys who experience this.

I think it's really interesting, but it concerns me that they didn't use ANY anesthetic. While I know circ's aren't done with adequate anesthesia, I think the results may be dismissed by those that think the anesthetic given is sufficient. I would like to see if the same results are produced in a babies given different types of anesthesia.

No anestheic effective

You don't need an MRI to test your hypothesis. There have been numerous studies and the conclusion is that none of the anesthesias in use are effective at eliminating pain. The sad thing is that anesthesia is used to make parents feel better about their decision.

So it's ethical to cut off a part of an infant's genitals without his consent and with absolutely no anesthetic, while it's UNethical to study how traumatic it is?
What the ?

It was a shame the nurse yielded to pressure from her husband to have her newborn circed.

Sacrificing one person to save the masses never works.

I wonder how insurance companies/employers/doctors/lawyers etc. use this kind of study and the ones showing the sexual problems caused by circ.?Could someone be denied insurance or employment or a medical treatment because circ. is a pre-existing condition?

Just to clarify something not obvious from the posting, the MRI study was done 15-20 years ago, or more. (I was not able to find an exact date) At that time, local anesthetic for circ was not routinely used.

Tinari, PhD (engineering) states that the experiment took place while he was in graduate school. He is 51 years old right now.

Interestingly:
Quote:
In late April [2006] Paul Tinari became the first man in Canadian history to have the government pay for surgery to reverse a botched circumcision.

Tinari's procedure was a huge win for intactivists in CA
