can you still feel pressure if baby isn't engaged?

I've read a couple birth stories lately about mama's who had trouble getting labor established because baby wasn't engaged, and if they were able to get baby settled down into the pelvis (via belly binding or ofp techniques) then labor kicked in.

I've been a little worried about this happening to me b/c my prior pregnancy was twins - born at 39 weeks 5 days and 9+ lbs each, so this pregnancy it seems like my uterus has been a little on the xlarge size and baby has generous amounts of fluid.

Now I've been having prodomal labor for 5 days (I'm 39 weeks today) and I'm wondering if maybe she's not positioned well.

My mw's are confident that she's head down and since the prodomal labor started, she's definitely moved downward - less pain in my ribs now. And I have a ton of pressure during the ctx... so my guess is that she is engaged. (Haven't seen the mw since the prodomal stuff started)

But I just wondered if it is *possible* to still feel that kind of pressure just from the bag of waters with baby still floating and not engaged?

I did feel the pressure when the baby was not engaged.

Hope things move forward for you.

There's a lot of pressure in general in the last weeks, but when my babies enganged it was an unmistakable feeling of a head in the pelvis, almost like the head was about to just pop through or something (FWIW I wasn't dilated or anything and labors were long so it wasn't really the case). My midwife and I could feel the head by palpation and tell just where he was the second time around.
