Hi Everybody
Our Baby Girl is Here!!!!
I went to my OB appt on Wed (39 Weeks) as normal and my blood pressure was up quite a bit, enough that the doc was a bit worried. SHe recommended induction but said it was our choice. We decided to go ahead with the induction and was scheduled for that night.
We got to the hospital got all checked in and settled in and they started Cervadil at 9pm. By about 1 am I was having contractions and dialted to only about 3 cm. I went through the night not sleeping much (a combination of nerves, excitement, and pain). At 7 am Thursday morning they broke my water and started Pitocin, shortly after that they placed my epidural. They also gave me some medication to help relax me and allow me to sleep. I slept through most of the rest of the dialtion!
At about 5 pm I was fully dialted and they had me start pushing. They had me push in several positions (on the back, squatting with a bar, side laying). She started to move down and they put up a mirror so I could see her head! Kate started crying the first time she got to see hair! I pushed and pushed and pushed and was having a lot of pain in my right side upper abdomen (that we later found out was a golf ball sized Fibroid) that made pushing quite painful even with an epidural. After 3 1/2 hours of pushing the doctore reassesed and said ok we're gonna try for 5 or 6 more good strong everything you've got pushes. I tried and literally had nothing left. I was SO exhausted. The doc said ok I think this baby is just not gonna come out this way. And they said we're most likely going to have to do a c/s. I was upset...felt like I had failed, but I knew I was too exhausted to even try anymore.
Within minutes they had my epidural dosed up high and had me in the OR. Kate got to come in a watch and hold my hand just as everything got started. It didn't take long and they pulled her out and one of the nurses exclaimed "oh my gosh that's a 3 month old!" They showed her to us and took her over to get cleaned up and weighed and measured. Then they wrapped her up and immediately gave her to Kate who held her the whole tiem they stiched & stapled me up. They had to give me Demerol near the end of the procedure as I was shaking excessively due to the high does of epidural I had had. This made me fall alseep instantly. I woke up in the recovery room with Kate stadning by holding my hand and my mom sitting in the chair holding her very first grandchild! After an hour they moved us to the room we will be staying in until Monday.
So our little girl "Dekaylee May Katherine Bond" was born October 29, 2009 at 8:56pm, she weighed in at a whopping 9lbs 1oz and 21 1/2 inches long, with a 14 inch head circumference! (that would be why she was not coming out vaginally!). SHe is breastfeeding well and we are all doing really well (a bit sore from the surgery, 17 staples, and then 2 stitiches where I tore slightly during pushing, but happy to be a mama!)
