Anyone else not take their LO to the doc yet?? Normally I would have taken him in for a check up but with the whole swine flu everywhere I am trying to avoid the docs office as much as possible. Am I crazy? He was weighed at my 2 day and 2 week midwife appointment and I am going to weigh him tomorrow at Dh's work on the postal scale ( he is 3 weeks today) I think we are doing delayed vacc with him so I dunno- its not like he will need to go in at 2 months, 4 months and 6 months.
His only issue seems to be either a dairy sensitivity or reflux and I am leaning toward reflux but if he is gaining weight I don't really want him on meds anyway...so I dunno. I feel guilty for not taking him in to be checked by a doc but at the same time I don't. Stupid mom guilt.

I'm very lucky to have a doctor who comes to me for home visits. She came when Amelia was 4 days old, and we'll see her again on Tuesday.

We don't do well baby visits or vaccinate but did take my little girl to the pediatrician a few days ago, when she was two weeks old. My OB didn't really examine her and I wanted to get her newborn screening done. She won't be back to the pediatrician unless she gets sick or I have some sort of concern. I'm really happy no one treated me like a jerk for homebirth.

I'm not worried about exposing her to illness, we're out all the time.

I think it is fine if you aren't vaccinating to not go in. The check up schedule is set up to coincide with recommended vaccines. As long as you can tell her growth is good and that she is generally thriving then all is well. I took my daughter in when she was 2 days old and while I made an appointment for a 2 month visit, there really isn't any need for me to because I don't vaccinate and I can take her to the midwife to be weighed and measured.

I took him into the hospital on day 5 for his PKU and hearing test. Other than that we're not going to the doctor's until my 6 week check up. I know he's putting on weight as he's grown out of his newborn clothes (he's 3 weeks now). I have absolutely no concerns about his health and so a visit to a germ infested doctors office seems a bit unecessary. We're going to delay vax so after our 6 week visit I don't know when we'll be back.

Our doc came to us luckily!

The midwife saw us at 5 days and 6 weeks. We don't vaccinate, so he won't see a doctor again until there is a need, when he gets sick. He's eating well, and growing lots, so I see no reason to bring him to a doctor to tell me just that.

DS1, who is 2 1/2, has only seen a doctor once since he was born, when I needed a prescription for a nasty rash I couldn't get rid of. Of course, all they would give me was cortisone, so I never even used it!

Not yet but we are going on Friday and he'll be about a month old. We dont vaccinate but I do want him to go and get established with our Dr. We made a first appt. to avoid having to sit with anyone who may be sick. Knowing our Dr. he'll probably just have me bring him back in the spring.

We had to have Ki's newborn screening done so we went to the Ped at 4 days old. We are vaxing though so we wanted to get established with a Dr now and figure out when to vax and all that.
