Getting Out of Debt in November - Page 8

I am back from IKEA after buying the bulk of our furniture. I am very proud of myself because we came out $60 under budget for the shopping trip.

Ah, I'm getting sloppy with only 2 days left in our Nov. budget!

I'm letting cash get too fluid. I went $40 over budget for DS's birthday and between DH and I we have $186 of un-budgetted spending (not all frivalous, but un-expected, like: course fees, a trip to Staples, a few job-related things, tool accessories). DH and I have both been working lots this month to get ahead, but we're slipping into the we-know-money's-coming/we-deserve-a-few-treats trap. But let me tell ya, I did NOT work extra hours for treats and fluff and for it to all just fly away!!!! So I must ask myself, WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING?!?! I may be experiencing frugal fatigue.

Rant over, and off to sort out this mess! Think financially fit thoughts, think financially fit thoughts...(more importantly, do financially fit things, do financially fit things).

Thanks. This was all very loving and wonderful advice. I do feel kind of mean, but I'm not giving over any more money from my Paypal until he can get a handle on things. He's leaving me without money for homeschooling, clothes, gifts-- things my Paypal used to cover. And with Christmas coming up, I'm using my Paypal for that, rather than throwing it at the emergency fund. We should have bonuses coming from church-- his is substantially bigger than mine, but its should be at least $500. So that can go to finish off the EF.

We do envelopes, but the problem is (a) he's cheating and spending money somewhere. I don't know if he's blowing money or if we're paying for bills he hasn't budgeted, but somewhere, money is slipping away and (b) he's still not giving me what's supposed to be in my envelopes. This week, for example, he put the money in the food, clothing, gas, and blow envelopes, but neglected to give me the homeschooling, household, or commission (kid allowance) money. And then it gets all kind of mushed together because I'm robbing Peter to pay Paul, and it's ticking me off. It feels very manipulative and controlling to me. I don't think that's necessarily his intent, but it feels yucky.
