Insurances paying for circ?

Do they generally pay for it? I was under the perhaps false impression that many do not.

Anyone an expert on this?

In Canada, No they don't pay for it. I have heard prices ranging from $100 to $600. But if it is deemed medically necessary by a doctor, whether true or not, then it is paid for.

I assume you are asking about the US though.

As far as I know, Medicaid won't cover it, at least in 16 states.
Some private insurance companies might; there's no practical way to tell.

A few months ago, I was looking under an alphabetical list of what my insurance (Tricare) covers, looking to see if they cover chiropractors. Nope, but they DO cover circ

I then changed my status on Facebook to "Kayla thinks it is absolutely terrible that her insurance covers cosmetic surgery but not chiropractors." It didn't start a conversation though, only my best friend commented.

Some do some do not just depends on the company.

More specifically it depends on the employer's contract with the insurance company. Employers (and state law in some instances) determine what's covered and what's not.

We have United Healthcare thru dh's work, and circ is most definitely covered (under OB care).

As a mom whose five-year-old has already had four major "cosmetic surgeries" on her face to partially remove a giant birthmark, I certainly would have taken the bait when it came to that comment.

Our insurance company reluctantly covers my DD's cosmetic surgery (we were refused this summer until her plastic surgeon's office got on the phone with the insurance company and gave them an earful). Our insurance company also would have covered circumcision.
