I am having a really hard time not getting overwhelmed we have tons of bills and debt our cars are falling apart and DH owes $1500 for his ambulance ride when he got injured. Rent is due and we are late and so is property taxes.

I feel like things are just coming apart at te seams. My sons birthday is this month and Solstice is not to far off as well and we are barely making it through, I feel so horrible

I also found some lumps in my breast andthey are not going away They are not normal either and you can see them through different shirts I wear.

Today I have so much to do and its already noon. I just can't think in this house... since I didn't get called to sub-teach I'm home today ... I'm going pack my bag and go work at the library.... hopefully I can get a conference room and a couple hours of QUIET... sheeze.
I know I should be grateful that DS and I live here for a reasonable rent (utilities included) but my landlord/roommate is getting on my nerves and the situation is becoming toxic.

Hi everyone,

I too am very happy November is here. October was the month from "hell-o"
and I've never had that much trouble in my life!

We are looking for a place to live, are with my parents right now, and we have a storage room for our things...got for $1 this month, $85 next month.

The kids are doing fine, and I am glad to say that SSI will be coming in this month sometime, so it will definately help us find a place, since I will have 4 months worth of back pay too.

Well, I went to UPS last night and talked to the HR lady and at the end of the interview she told me that I would "hear from them within 3 weeks" (of course ) I really hope they call me back :fingerscross
On a happier note (I think), Eric (babydaddy) had an interview with Target Monday...and his Orientation is next Tuesday. So that means he will be able to start giving me money soon, too.

My afternoon at the library was sooooo much better than staying at home.

My coupons are all clipped and organized. I had 2 weeks worth plus with a new month starting I needed to clean out the expired.

I was able to update my sons 'school' calendar. We HS and I like to keep a basic record of activies and man I was about 4 months behind.

All my emaling is caught up.

And I even got a full hour of study time for a test I need to take next month. YOOHOO

Now if I can get called for work tomorrow tonight will be excellent.

I hope this month is better for everyone.
The cold weather has moved in so our heater is on. Usually I would be scared of the gas bills, but a few months ago we qualified for a program to replace our old hvac system with an energy efficient system. I'm hoping, hoping, hoping it helps! My dh's is currently working tons of OT and that's great. His work also gives out a frozen turkey for thanksgiving so I won't have to worry about that. WIC has been great too. I applied for medicaid for the kids about a month ago and I'm still waiting for an answer. The bad news is that we're already running short of money this month but I think we might be able to catch up next pay period. I guess that's it.

PLEASE PLEASE go get checked out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom just found out she has breast cancer, so this is a very sensitive issue for me.

My mom has absolutely no health insurance (or money). She called our county health department, and they referrered her to a clinic that does early intervention testing and diagnosing, and she won't have to pay a dime for the testing or anything. Now that it is cancer, she is applying for Medicaid to get it taken care of.

PLEASE go get tested. If it is breast cancer, you have got to catch it early.

Thats fantastic! We applied the same week and still haven't heard anything, we should qualify on 2 different fronts but who knows. I just hope they decide soon and in our favor. Did they call you to tell you or just send a letter?

We get food stamps, and it's time to recertify. For once I'm actually going to have everything in before the deadline instead of having to open an entirely new case.

How does it work if you are re certifying? Do you get food stamps at the old level until the new information is processed? Or is there a lapse?

I'm trying to figure out if I'm likely to get my food stamps for December or if they will be delayed.

There should be no delay and even if you get terminated you will get transitional FS which is actually a higher amount then you get right now.

in my state if you turn things in on time there is no lapse. at the start of the new cert period they will go up or down according to your income and deductions i had to recert in sept for the period starting oct and mine stayed level as i had no changes

I have done 2 re-certs and they make you have the appointment early enough so that your new 6 month period starts with whatever amound you qualified for at your re-cert.

that's what I thought they would do, but it's due Nov. 15th, and my new 6 month period starts Dec. 1. Our office is taking anywhere from 45-90 days to process new cases but I am hoping that wait doesn't apply to recertification.

your allready on the case load it shouldnt be a problem i have had mine approved at the case workers desk and had them in the system when i got home. but i do live in a diffrent state, i hope there is no hold up for you either

At my recert appointments (NH) they put the info in while you are sitting there and then mail you the paperwork that day or the next day with the new amount. Hope it goes well for you!

Thanks for recommending calling AAA again to pick up my car. They charged me just for the miles over 5 miles from my house to the mechanic, so $80, but not as bad as renting the tow dolly and having DH out of work all morning as was otherwise planned. The car is off to the mechanic's and we'll see how much that costs me. I'm kind of like this about how we're going to pay for the repairs:

Fortunately DH has a truck and has been taking DS to school, and MIL has picked him up each morning, so that's good. It's really inconvenient for MIL, though, and I'm hearing about it. The jacket still hasn't turned up. I think it's gone for good, which is so discouraging. One nice thing and it's pilfered before DS even has a chance to use it.

In good news, I was reading the sales flyers for the local grocery stores and found some freebies that I'll be taking advantage of. I'm so grateful to have food stamps so I'm not worried about where food is coming from! One store has free eggs, bacon, juice, and raisin bread when you spend $50. They also have a "stock up for baking" sale and you get $5 for every $25 you spend on baking supplies. So I'll get $50 in baking supplies (on sale about 1/2 off) and be set for the year, get $10 back, and free breakfast foods. I'm going to try to find some coupons to help get the total even lower, but I'm pretty pleased by the deal. Another store has a free turkey with $100 purchase, but they're more expensive overall so I don't think I'll do it. Are you finding good seasonal sales in your area?

Well, today's been quiet, but when I took my daughter to kindergarten today, her teacher took me aside and told me that she is her "best student". But I already knew that from teaching her her letters and numbers during the summer sigh, great another one who's smarter than me. Oh, well, at least maybe she'll be smart enough to get herself out of this life!!!!!

I know I haven't been posting because I'm to busy pulling my hair out trying to figure out next semesters school schedule. For some reason the nursing agency will only allow 8 hour shifts at a time so if I need that 9th hour I have to have 2 shifts of nurses in my house and of course that 2nd nurse wouldn't just be here for that 1 hr, oh no, its 8! So I'd have someone here for 16 hours which eats up my hours. I need to re take Anatomy and the best teacher only teaches nights and I can't fit any of the classes into the bus/nursing schedule. The chem teacher I want conflicts with anatomy. If I don't take both classes this semester I can't apply for the RT program in the fall and I will have to wait another year to apply Still have no idea how I'm going to pay, none of the bus schedules seem to be compatible with that 8 hour limit and there's no way I can come up with almost 2x money for gas to drive and I don't even know if my POS car will survive the semester.

Ack, Satori, that sounds so frustrating with the nurses! Is there anyone who can come and help you out for just that hour who is not a nurse, but can at least get you over the short time that you are not there?

Peacemamalove, definitely go get checked out. That sounds so scary and stressful. It might cost a bit now, but seriously, you can put off paying medical bills for a long time if you have to. You can't put off getting care if something is seriously wrong.

HappyLittleHouse, those deals sound great! I am so envious! My FS were just increased. When my new (much lower) amount was calculated based on my new job, they didn't take into account that I wouldn't be working at my old job that was just sporadic on-call type work, so they lowered my amount by way too much. Luckily, it was fixed and I just had over $100 deposited into my account. Off to peruse the sale flyers!

So today was the day from hell here, but it ended up being pretty good and everything worked out. My car is not inspected, and was due at the end of October. I took it in last week and there were two repairs that were needed. Each was about $200, and I really only could afford one (barely). I did the one that was most needed (apparently my ball-joint was about to break and my tire could have fallen off ) and the other had to wait. The second repair was a cracked exhaust pipe that wasn't totally broken yet, so I was going to wait until Friday to get it fixed and just put off paying all of my other bills until two weeks from now.

Guess what happened on the way into work today??? Yep, the exhaust pipe broke completely. My car is now not inspected and sounds like a tank. I was terrified that I was going to be pulled over and told that I couldn't drive it, and that I would be fined for not having a current inspection. ($75)

I work at a preschool so I needed to find a sub for tomorrow, I needed to find a garage, and I needed to take out a loan to pay for the repairs all this morning while I was working. They really frown on using your personal cell phone while working, so here I was on the phone ALL MORNING LONG trying to figure out this mess.....

Well, I found a sub, I found a garage, and my bank even took my loan application over the phone and came to my place of employment to let me sign the papers there. I was finally starting to feel a little better about the whole thing, knowing it would all be over with by tomorrow, even though it would mean paying back the loan with my lower income (due to most of the public assistance being stopped due to my higher income). at least my car would be safe and legal so I could continue working.

Then, wonder of wonders!!! My case worker called me asking if I had gotten my car fixed yet (I called her to see if they could help with car repairs last week and they said no, so I didn't think to call back). I said that I had the ball joint repaired, but not the muffler. She said if I could wait a few days, she could have it paid for. I said I couldn't wait at all, and it needed to be done tomorrow so I wouldn't risk losing my job. She went and spoke with her supervisor and they are paying for my muffler!!! I can return the loan money, and I won't have to pay for any of it! I even called my garage and they will bill the state directly! Woo Hoo!!!!

It was so frustrating feeling like I was finally going to get ahead a tiny bit and then have it all go away in the blink of an eye with my car dying. I am so happy that life took a happy turn for today. Yippee!
