She must be having a good day. Yoohoo...Maia, where are you?

Sure is quiet here today.
I shouldn't even be online right now. Supposed to be cleaning.
Never ending cleaning.

Thanks mamas... it's still supposed to be about 36C or so today, but that's a fair bit cooler than the 40.3 (104F) it topped out at. I think 36 is 96-7ish.. can't be bothered finding the online converter lol No letter yet, I'll make sure to let Lucas do the mail checking so he can be the one to get it

I'm going to try to find a good way for both of us to volunteer and donate something so that he understands that there's more to life than receiving.
We already donate books and clothes but I think we're doing to donate toys next. Maybe that will make more of an impression on him.
Ouch.. that is just what my guys are like at times and it drives me nuts. They DO get a fair bit of spoilage at the holidays, but I prefer to focus on buying them each a few high quality things and then fill in the rest with stuff like new art supplies and books etc. My real want for Quinn this year is a real tricycle (radio flyer metal one, the ones with plastic seats and parts perish in the sun within 6months here! the little trike he got for xmas last year cracked and died long ago )

I was afraid I'd miss most of Maia's party but it appears you guys just couldn't bear to start without me? heheheh I'm wearing this delightful frock (don't ya love 'frock'? lol Aussies really & truly use it in reference to dresses... fancy ones even ) And someone spent a spectacular amount of time making my hair look like THIS for the event. Jewelry is swarovski crystals all the way... I love the more than diamonds or gold (am wearing swarovski cube earrings right now actually hehe) I've brought along a chocolate pavlova for a very special birthday cake for maia If you have never had one, trust me they are divine! Mine has passionfruit sauce drizzled over the top. (the savage that made the one in the picture did not put any on, it is simply NOT pav without it!) I'd imagine it's getting pretty chilly at Biltmore at night, and while I'm sure we'll all be bunked down in one of those grand bedrooms with a nice fire going... I'm thinking flannel pj's are in order

Wandering back in the direction of reality now *sigh* It's 945am.. nobody even woke up here till 830, which is good cause I was sleeping like teh dead! After 3 nights of no sleep omg was it good! I had a cuddly little hot pocket (quinn) up next to me after 415am when hubs got up Best get a move on!

*aubergine beat me to bringing the eggnog, so i'll make wassail (alch and non)... and i know there's already entertainment, but i think i'll bring some court minstrels as well, so there's music all over the place.... (& we can wassial the trees in the garden at midnight)

*i think some sugar plums might be in order as well.... i might have to bring alton brown along to show us how to make them......

*and i think i'll bring all the best beads from my local beadstore, and we can all make beautiful sparkley things for each other......

happy birthday, maia!

Oh gawd, that's what Rio said a couple years ago, too. I don't know where he got it-- we don't have TV and he wasn't in school at the time. That's when I started the "What's on your give list?" as well as the Wish List.

Party time!! Woohoo! I'll be 50 technically at 8:20pm, EST. I always think, in the hours leading up to my birth time, about what was my Mom going through, the time I was born. Really, it's the moms who should get honored on birthdays, not the kids

Does anyone have that link that Aweyn posted not long ago with the swarovski crystal bling that you stick on? Think it's too late to order it? I have a week....only a week! OMG!!

I'm here!

With wine, mini pesto/goat cheese pizza, yummy almond flour brownies and my spices cake with a creamy caramel.

maia, for the stick on sparkles, go to the mall and go to one of those kiddie sparkle stores. they all have them in some form (if not the authentic ones). for the dress, i bet you could totally find a student to make one... with all the arts schools where you are, just go to a theatre program and find someone who works in the costume department, most of them are seemstresses on the side.....

cari, goodness, that dress is wonderful!

i think you need some nice wings to go with it.... ohhhh, where is that link..... hmmm, well, not the one i had in mind, but everyone should be able to find ones that suit them here....

ok, so dress THEN pjs. awesome. i'm thinking i need a plaid cotton knit nightgown for after...... and some fuzzy slippers with some sparkles on them....

It was a very long day.

I'm here!

I am loving the pumpkin spice pancakes. Anyone else have those?

I'm in my nightgown and slippers and loving this party.

Woohoo to 50 Maia!!

I'll be 45 in June and I'm already planning on shouting it from the mountain tops: "Woohoo! Halfway to 90 and it's been one helluva ride!"

No bling for me...I'm a blingless, birkenstock-clad, crunchy mama.
Wearing this
with some custom dark purple/black wings to complement. And green hair, just because.

I'll have another almond brownie and I am TOTALLY there with you for wassailing the trees, aweyn...

Got my hot pink pjs that my little guy says make me look "so beautiful, mommy!" in my bag. And the appropriate fuzzy moccasins. And a fluffy white bathrobe.

(IRL, 2/3 of my kids are pukey and dh is, of course, away for work this week. So I won't be as lively on the dance floor as I'd like...)

Happy Birthday Maia!

I'm sneaking in at the end of the party in my cotton jammies, cotton robe, some hot cocoa, and my tragic fairy tale Rupert the Dragon written when I was 14

Have a good night all. I'm hoping to have time to come on more often. Some day things will slow down ya right

Good morning everyone! Super tired this morning. Ds woke me up too early.

We'll be working with another homeschooling family this morning on reading, math, and science. I'm looking forward to the tea.

There's frost everywhere outside this morning. Brrr. 28 degrees right now. I don't want winter to come. I'd like to live somewhere that doesn't get too cold and doesn't get too hot. Where are places like that? Say 45-80 degrees.
